Shower Assembly Moisture Control Program
Natural stone, marble, and porcelain shower assemblies can become Waterlogged™ when moisture migrates beneath finished surfaces and remains trapped within the assembly. Over time, retained moisture may contribute to darkening, odor, joint deterioration, and in some cases continued saturation that can extend beyond the intended protective layer.
Typical work includes moisture migration control, joint stabilization or reconstruction, and protective treatments, performed without altering finished surfaces.
TERSO MR® provides graduated levels of corrective and preventive measures based on observed conditions and assembly behavior.
01
Shower Assembly Preventive Stabilization
Early moisture indicators or recent installations. Work intended to reduce long-term moisture accumulation and early movement.
Scope includes:
-
Movement testing and localized stabilization where needed using injection methods
-
Joint correction where early structural settling is present
-
Surface preparation and protective treatment matched to material
-
Inspection and adjustment of shower glass enclosure seals when needed
Performed over multiple visits to allow curing between steps.
Specification Note:
Natural stone shower assemblies shall receive moisture migration control and joint stabilization by TERSO MR® or approved equivalent prior to project closeout.
02
Shower Assembly Condition Correction
Active moisture retention present.
Evaluation is performed to locate trapped moisture and areas of movement within the shower floor and adjoining joints.
Scope includes:
-
Controlled drying behind stone or porcelain panels/tiles
-
Sound testing to locate movement or voids
-
Localized stabilization using injection methods
-
Reconstruction of deteriorated grout joints
-
Correction of loose or displaced tiles
-
Surface preparation and protective treatment appropriate to the material
-
Replacement of enclosure seals and perimeter silicone where required
Process Note:
No demolition or disruptive reconstruction required. Multiple visits are required to allow proper drying and curing between steps.
03
Periodic Performance Service
Previously treated showers by TERSO MR®.
Ongoing service to manage exposure and maintain consistent performance.
Scope includes:
-
Surface preparation
-
Renewal of protective treatment
-
Inspection of enclosure seals
Recommended at 12–24 month intervals depending on usage.
